Travel to INDIA and NEPAL - 2006

Thanks to the mobilization of the members of Provence.Himalaya during all this year and at the bottoms collected by the many demonstrations in which our association took part, we could conclude the objectives that we had fixed ourselves and mitigate the urgencies which we met during our stay among the Tibétains refugees in India and in Nepal. We left with 4000 euros to distribute + 5000 rupees taken on the spot and 35 kgs of drugs that Jacques had obtained thanks to the generosity of the Mercx Laboratories.   

*Our actions in India of north, in Dharamsala, Bir and Chauntra.

 Dondhup, taken refuge Tibétaine, arrived to India with its family, it y' is 7 years old of that. Currently, it lives in Bir in a single part of 11 m2 with her husband. It suffers from an incurable disease of the eyes which little by little returns it blind man. It is of course incompetent to work and her husband of a precarious health and a rather advanced age does not work either. Dondhup recently had to be hospitalized and the association "Tendrelactiontibet" which deals amongst other things with all the small family launched a call for a financial assistance concerning the care and the hospitalization of Dondhup. Our association answered present and decided to grant an aid of 5600 Rupees (100 €) Dondhup at the time of our meeting with Bir. This sum covers part of the hospital expenses.

. Visit godsons with Bir, Chauntra and Dharamsala:  

We met there Déchen, Karma, 3 Tenzins, Sagar (our small Indian godson) and Kyisang (the grandpa which had broken the collar of the fémur the last year)… It is better, was operated successfully but will remain with life tributary of a cane to help it to move. To note the marvellous one and moving reception which is always reserved to us.

Visite in the Center of refugees of Dharamsala:

In accordance with our estimated, we granted to them a gift of 25000 rupees (approximately 450 €). Jacques and his wife who accompanied us, distributed part of the recovered drugs which we had brought from France.  

. Visit in the Center "Old people"

We met there Noryak, our granny 84 year old that association sponsors since L last year. It appeared to us in better form and was shown, like all the community of old people living in the Center, very happy of our visit. We made him a small gift of 500 rupees (9€) for its menus needs and bought a pair of shoes (1150 rupees) (20.50€), his being very worn to them.  

We decided, to deal with in addition to Noryak, Tséring reprocessed Tibétain refugee of the Indian army: in its capacity as Tibétain, it is not entitled to any retirement (cost of 2 sponsorships for the year: 19200 rupees) (343 €). It should be noted that with the complicity of the Director of the Center, we organized a small festival with all the old people of the Center. Tea and fruits were been useful in the room of prayer in which all were joined together. The members of association attended a "pouja" to which besides they joined in a real communion of solidarity (purchase of bananas + transport: 360+210 roupies)(10.20€)

. Emergency case, assistance to a family in great difficulty.

The Director of the hotel where we placed in Dharamsala us announced the case of a Tibétaine family in the most complete destitution (problems of health, not of housing, 1 dependent children and pregnant woman) Tashi, the father sells vegetables with the entry of the Temple, in the best months, it remains to him to live 1500 rupees is approximately 26 euros for all his family).

After having met the father of family, Tashi Dorjee and well studied its situation, association decided to come to him to assistance and paid immediately 5000 rupees (90€) to him and decided to deal with part of the education of his/her son Tenzin (3 years) by granting a sponsorship to him as from March.  

. Monastery of Séra:

We gave an envelope of 500euros (for Gueshe Thupten Phunsok (monastery of will séra) to contribute to the education of small of which it is occupied (see in "our actions": Séra, the largest monastic university of Buddhism.

* Our actions in Nepal

. "Tilganga eye Center" the center for the eyes directed by Doctor Ruit, to which we had made a gift the year spent to contribute to the financing of the operations of the cataract in the mobile camps in Tibet.

This year, we renewed the operation by making a donation of 86000 roupies(1000€). We met Doctor Ruit Thursday October 19 and it left saturdays in Lhassa for operations and to train doctors on the spot…

. Refugee camp of Katmandou: We arrived at the moment when the construction of a new building to accomodate the refugees was completed. After an interview with the director, it proved that their most urgent need was the bed linen for this new building. With the money which remained us (96500 rupees)1123 €), we could finance the 66 beds which were necessary for them,
